San Luis Obispo, CA (Sports Network) - Chris O'Brien's layup as time expired enabled the Cal Poly Mustangs to squeak past the Hawaii Warriors, 54-53, in non-conference action.

Shawn Lewis tallied 15 points to pace Cal Poly (3-3), which received 14 points from David Hanson and 11 points from O'Brien.

Zane Johnson scored 11 points and Joston Thomas added 10 points in defeat for Hawaii (5-1).

Cal Poly jumped out to an early 16-6 advantage, but Hawaii rallied to grab a 28-26 lead by halftime.

Hawaii scored five consecutive points to take a 53-52 lead with 22 seconds remaining in the contest. Lewis missed a three-pointer for the Mustangs in the closing seconds, and Will Donahue's attempted put-back after an offensive rebound was off the mark as well. Fortunately for Cal Poly, O'Brien got another offensive board and scored the game-winning bucket as the clock hit zero.

The Warriors shot 51.4 percent from the floor in the clash while limiting Cal Poly to 33.3 percent shooting. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they turned the ball over 25 times.
