Providence, RI (Sports Network) - Marshon Brooks sunk a game-high 27 points as the Providence Friars topped the Northeastern Huskies, 77-72, in a non- conference bout at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Bilal Dixon recorded a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win for Providence (7-1), while Vincent Council scored 15 points.

Northeastern (2-3) was led by Chaisson Allen's 24 points. Joel Smith contributed 15 points in the loss, while Alex Harris added 11.

The Huskies held a slim 37-35 advantage at the intermission after shooting 50.0 percent from the floor in the opening half.

Providence was able to work its way to the five-point victory after holding Northeastern to 39.4 percent shooting from the field in the second stanza. The Friars, meanwhile, connected on 52.0 percent of their total shots in that span.

Providence dominated the boards, 47-27, including a 21-12 advantage on the offensive glass.
