Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - DeAndre Brown scored 19 points and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs downed the SMU Mustangs, 69-64, in a non-conference showdown at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston.

Brandon Gibson logged a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs (6-2), while Lonnie Smith and Romario Souza chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Papa Dia tallied 20 points and five boards for the Mustangs (4-4), who had their three-game win streak snapped. Robert Nyakundi tacked on 15 points and seven rebounds, while Justin Haynes had 12 points and five boards.

The Bulldogs coughed up the ball 13 times in the first half, a big reason why they trailed, 29-28, at the break.

Louisiana Tech shot an efficient 54.5 percent from the floor in the second half, as it came away with the five-point win.

The Bulldogs made the most of their long-range attempts, going 9-of-16 from beyond the arc on the night.
