Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) - Andre Stringer poured in a game-high 18 points, and LSU never trailed in a 61-53 victory over Georgia.
Johnny O'Bryant III added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers (17-10, 7-6 SEC), who won their fourth in a row. the Tigers overcame a 7-for-21 shooting performance in the second half and moved to a 33-13 advantage vs. Georgia in games staged in Baton Rouge.
Gerald Robinson had 17 points and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope 10 for the Bulldogs (12-15, 3-10), who dropped their third straight. Georgia struggled to a 39.3 percent shooting effort and allowed LSU to attempt 30 foul shots (18-of-30). Georgia shot 4-of-17 from beyond the arc.
O'Bryant's three-point play capped a game-opening 10-0 spurt, but LSU's lead was trimmed to 29-23 at the half thanks to Robinson's bucket in the waning seconds.
The Bulldogs were within striking distance much of the second half and trimmed the margin to four points inside 30 seconds left following a Robinson layup. But Ralston Turner and Justin Hamilton each made two free throws to seal the outcome.
Georgia lost despite dominating the inside play with a 30-14 scoring advantage in the paint.
