Final Score: Richmond 52 - Saint Josephs 49
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Derrick Williams scored 17 points and his made free throw with 3.7 seconds left put Richmond ahead for good in a 52-49 victory over Saint Joseph's.
Williams, who was fouled in the act of shooting by C.J. Aiken, hit the first free throw and then missed the second. Halil Kanacevic got the rebound for the Hawks and called timeout, but the hosts had none left. That resulted in a technical foul, and Darien Brothers made both shots from the charity stripe.
Carl Jones missed a three-point try at the buzzer for the Hawks.
Brothers ended with 12 points and nine rebounds. Cedrick Lindsay added 10 points for the Spiders (16-14, 6-8 A-10), who were coming off a 53-52 win over Charlotte on Saturday.
Langston Galloway scored 15 and Jones had 10 for the Hawks (18-11, 8-6), who won their previous three contests.
The Spiders, who lost at home by 10 to the Hawks on Feb. 1, led 25-24 at the half and were up 44-33 midway through the second half following a Kendall Anthony layup.
The Hawks tied the game at 49 on a Jones three with 32 seconds to go.
