Vazquez defeats Kim to win IBF lightweight title

Laredo, TX (Sports Network) - Miguel Vazquez defeated Ji Hoon Kim in a unanimous decision to capture the vacant IBF lightweight championship on Saturday.

Vazquez (26-3) won all three cards by scores of 119-109, 120-108, 118-110 to take the title that had been vacant since Nate Campbell lost the belt on scale in February 2009.

Kim (21-6) was the No. 1 contender for the belt coming into the fight. He had been unbeaten since 2006, going 13-0 during that time.
