Garcia (24-0, 15 KOs), who sustained a cut above his right eye in the second
round before flooring Khan three times, kept his WBC title and took the WBA
belt from Khan (26-3, 18 KOs).
Referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight with 32 seconds left in the fourth
round, even after Khan shook his head signaling he was okay to continue.
The Philadelphia native sent Khan to the canvas with a stunning left hook to
the right ear in the final minute of the third. Khan barely got out of that
round and was knocked down in the opening seconds of the fourth when a left
hook clipped him on the top of the head.
Khan landed a solid uppercut to the chin with about two minutes left in the
round, but was the recipient of a solid right from Garcia. Khan stumbled and
touched his glove to the canvas, signaling another knockdown.
A native of Great Britain, the 25-year-old Khan appeared in his eighth title
fight. Garcia was coming off a 12-round unanimous decision over Erik Morales
