Sat 31st, October 2009

Hamilton, ON (Sports Network) - Kevin Glenn completed 21-of-35 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats notched a crucial 24-6 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Dave Stala added nine catches for 126 yards for Hamilton (8-9), which has moved into second place in the East Division, two points ahead of Winnipeg, which has yet to play this week. DeAndra' Cobb ran for 159 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries to move ahead of the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

Cobb became the seventh CFL running back to rush for 1,000 yards this season, which is a league record.

Darian Durant threw for only 66 yards on 8-of-20 passing for Saskatchewan (9-7-1), which has already clinched a playoff berth. Durant also threw an interception in the loss.

Durant also led the team in rushing with 38 yards on the ground, and Chris Jones was the leading receiver with 32 yards on four catches.

Hamilton built up an 18-point lead to take an early advantage.

Nick Setta hit a 34-yard field goal three minutes into the game for the contest's first points, and Glenn hit Arland Bruce III on a 12-yard scoring play with seven minutes left in the first for a 10-0 lead.

A single three minutes later gave the Ticats an 11-point cushion, and Cobb's 23-yard touchdown run in the early moments of the second quarter made it 18-0.

Saskatchewan finally got on the board with a single and a safety to cut its deficit to 15, and each team traded a field goal before halftime. Setta was true from 10 yards away, and Luca Congi nailed a 33-yarder with seconds left for a 21-6 halftime margin.

The second half was a defensive battle, with Hamilton shutting out Saskatchewan over the final two quarters.

Only three total points were scored in the second half, courtesy of a 46-yard field goal from Setta with six minutes to play in the game.
