Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Guy Morriss, who formerly headed the University of Kentucky and Baylor football programs, was named offensive line coach at Kentucky State University on Monday, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.
"To have the ability to bring Guy Morriss back to the Bluegrass and to Kentucky State University, with his knowledge and expertise, is a once in a career opportunity for me that I believe will have a positive impact for our entire university," KSU head coach Fred T. Farrier said in a release.
The 56-year-old Texas native has compiled a 27-54 record over seven seasons at the collegiate level. Morriss was let go from Baylor after a 3-0 campaign in 2007, which included an 0-8 record in the Big 12. Prior to his stint in Texas, Morriss was 9-14 in two seasons at Kentucky.
The hiring marks the first time in the history of the SIAC that a former BCS head coach has worked in the conference.
Morriss played with the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots in a 15- year NFL career as a center, reaching two Super Bowls (XV, 1980; XX, 1985).
