Senior "Big" Mike Iupati and Outland Trophy Finalist, Junior free safety Shiloh Keo were named to First Team selections this week for the All Western Athletic Conference. Senior wide receiver Max Komar, Irvin Stevens III the Senior center, Aaron Lavarias
University of Idaho Senior guard, Mike Iupati and Shiloh Keo earned 1st team all WAC honors by a vote from the league's coaches.
Iupati, a native of American Samoa is a graduate of Western High in Anaheim, CA, received the honor after a unforgettable senior season. He's regarded as one of the top linemen in the nation and is one of three finalists for the Outland Trophy. He's a 1st team selection for the American Football Coaches Association, which makes him one of only three Vandals in school history to be rewarded.
Keo a graduate from Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett, WA, was the leading tackler for the Vandals this year with 109 total tackles (70 solo and 39 assists). He's 2nd in the conference in tackles per game with 9.1 , that ranks 31st in the FBS. He's tied for 10th nationally in solo tackles per game.
Komar, caught 62 passes for 1036 yards to lead a balanced Idaho receiving corps. His 12 receptions vs. Colorado State tied for 6th best in a single game for Idaho. Komar ranks 20th in total yards in the FBS, 22nd in receiving yards per game and 45th in receptions per game.
Stevens, from Centennial High School in Corona, CA, was a reliable and durable center for the Vandals after replacing 4 year starter Adam Korby. Though he is part of an unpleasant unit this was its best rushing production since 1998, the best passing yardage since 2001 in and fewest sacks since 2006.
Lavarias, from Woodinville, WA, led the Vandals with 7.5 tackle for a loss for a total of -29 yards, 4 of those were sacks. He had a total of 50 tackles (31 solo and 19 assists) to go with 5 quarterback hurries, a pass deflected, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Dickson, agraduate from Baldwin Wailuku High School in Hawaii, was Idaho's 2nd leading tackler and the leader amongst the linebacking corps. He totaled 73 tackles (39 solo and 34 assists), with 4 tackles for a loss, one sack, one fumble recovery, 2 interceptions, and 2 passes deflected. His 74 yard interception return for a touchdown vs. San Diego State is the 6th longest in school history.
