No Final Game for Joe Paterno

Odds & News | A.Llen ( Wed 23rd, November 2011 )

Trustees of Penn State decide to fire Joe Paterno, because the disturbing child abuse scandal

That has been flowing on newspapers and almost every sports news channel. With just a couple of games to retire, JoePa has been denied to leave the work of his life in an undeserved manner because a bad decision at the time. Is this decision justified after so many years since this ugly situation happened?

During that time, when he was informed of his assistance activities, Paterno didn't denounce the crime to the authorities, but in place he just informed the university president Graham Spanier. But besides that fact, his actions were slim compared to the real crime. This makes me think then... why the University president didn't take measures about the matter? Or he just fired Sandusky and kept his actions secret all this time. Was he afraid of the reputation of the institute at the time? What ever the reasons, hiding such actions is like being a partner in the crime.

If I understand this situation, Paterno at least informed of the situation to the person I think was in charge of everything that happens inside and around the building. Maybe Paterno could have taken action by his own and reported it to the police. Why he didn't? That's the question. Was he threatened? Was he bribed? Whatever the case, it has nothing to do with Football.

If this has nothing to do with football, then why the Penn State Board of Trustees take the decision to dismiss the coach. This was a business decision, not an NCAA infraction. Still taking the president out for not taking care of his responsibilities is one thing; but why taking away the final game of the coach?

Joe Paterno is considered a legend, and I sympathize with the people that are upset with the decision to dismiss him without let him finish the final game. I consider this as an unfair punishment for someone who dedicates 61 years of his life to bring honor to a university who now sacrifice him as a scapegoat to protect their reputation. Taking away the chance to finish the season and coach his final game in a good way to remember after all he has done for the program and the university on all this past years is what I believe to be unfair.

Paterno and his team where at the auditorium of the football facility. He announced that he was leaving. The players gave him standing ovations while he walked out. I really believe that there is something wrong with this decision. This is not the way a legend must end his days of sacrifice and dedication.

It's sad to know it happened in that way.
