Eugene, OR (Sports Network) - Oregon sophomore running back LaMichael James was sentenced to 24 months probation and 10 days in jail after pleading guilty to one count of physical harassment on Friday.
James agreed to a bargain that dropped four charges -- one count of strangulation, two counts of fourth-degree assault and another count of physical harassment -- stemming from an altercation with his girlfriend.
The 20-year-old Texarkana, Texas-native has already served two of his 10-day jail sentence, according to the Oregonian.
James was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year last season as a redshirt and ranked ninth in the nation with 1,546 rushing yards. He topped 100 yards on the ground nine times and did so for seven straight games after taking over as the Ducks' featured back following the suspension of LeGarrette Blount. Blount was suspended for the rest of the regular season following a post-game meltdown against Boise State in the season opener.
In 13 games last season, including Oregon's Rose Bowl loss to Ohio State, James scored 14 touchdowns and added 168 yards on 17 catches.
