A statement from attorneys Andrew Shubin and Justine Andronici was released
Thursday afternoon and was posted through several media sources.
'Matt Sandusky, one of Jerry Sandusky's adopted children, asked us to confirm
with you the accuracy of this morning's news reports indicating that he was
prepared to testify truthfully as a Commonwealth witness,' the statement
'During the trial, Matt Sandusky contacted us and requested our advice and
assistance in arranging a meeting with prosecutors to disclose for the first
time in this case that he is a victim of Jerry Sandusky's abuse.
'At Matt's request, we immediately arranged a meeting between him and the
prosecutors and investigators.
'This has been an extremely painful experience for Matt and he has asked us to
convey his request that the media respect his privacy. There will be no
further comment at this time.'
According to the Centre Daily Times, alleged victim No. 4 testified that he,
along with Matt and Jerry Sandusky engaged in a workout one day and afterward
went into the showers together. When Jerry Sandusky started a soap battle with
victim No. 4, Matt Sandusky looked 'nervous' and walked away, this according
to the testimony reported by the newspaper.
Jurors, who have been sequestered, have started to deliberate the case against
Sandusky. He is charged with 48 counts of sexual offenses against 10 other
alleged victims over a 15-year span. He was arrested in November and has
denied all allegations.
Late Thursday, the jury, after deliberating for nearly eight hours, asked to
rehear testimony from two witnesses. The testimony of former Penn State
graduate assistant Mike McQueary and Dr. Jonathan Dranov will be played again
