GAME NOTES: The third-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys put their undefeated season on the line this weekend in Stillwater, as they play host to the Baylor Bears in Big 12 action from Boone Pickens Stadium.

Mike Gundy's Cowboys are one of just eight unbeatens left in the FBS ranks and moved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in-conference with last weekend's 45-24 victory at Missouri.

Art Briles' Bears are a dangerous league foe, headlined by a Heisman candidate under center. Baylor won each of its first three games, but has dropped two of its last three affairs to fall to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in league play. The team enjoyed a bye last weekend after suffering a 55-28 setback to Texas A&M in College Station on October 15th.

This is the 30th meeting between these two programs. The Cowboys hold a 17-12 advantage all-time. Oklahoma State has won nine consecutive games against Baylor in Stillwater.

The Bears are one of the nation's most explosive offensive squads, averaging 44.3 ppg, on a whopping 549.7 total yards. It is a pick-you-poison when trying to defend Baylor, which is averaging 208.3 yards rushing and 341.3 passing.

It all starts with Heisman candidate Robert Griffin III. The dynamic signal- caller leads the nation in completion percentage (78.0), passing efficiency (205.7) and points responsible for (24.0 ppg). He has thrown for 1,950 yards, with 22 TDs and just two INTs.

Coach Gundy recognizes just how improved Griffin is as a passer.

"The numbers speak for themselves. When you can perform in as many games as he has, it speaks for itself. His quarterback rating and his completion percentage - he went through five weeks where he had more touchdown passes than incompletions, I think that's correct. His numbers speak for themselves."

It certainly helps to have one of the nation's best wideouts in the form of Kendall Wright, who leads the Bears in receptions (55), receiving yards (757) and TD catches (nine). Terrance Ganaway headlines an effective ground game, averaging 95.0 ypg on 5.5 ypc. He is responsible for seven of the team's 12 rushing scores to date.

The offense has had no problems moving the chains for Baylor, but unfortunately, neither has the opposition. The Bears are allowing a generous 32.7 ppg this year, struggling most against the run (185.5 ypg). The top playmakers are in the back seven in the form of Elliot Coffey (team-high 46 tackles), Mike Hicks (45 tackles, two INTs) and Ahmad Dixon (43 tackles, one INT).

The Baylor defense will certainly have its hands full in Stillwater, as Oklahoma State can move up and down the field with any team in the country. The Cowboys rank second in the nation in both scoring (48.6 ppg) and passing (387.4 ypg) and third in total offense (548.6 ypg).

It starts with quarterback Brandon Weeden. The veteran gunslinger has completed 71.8 percent of his passes thus far, for 2,436 yards and 19 TDs. He has arguably the nation's top target in Biletnikoff Award winner Justin Blackmon (61 receptions, 662 yards, eight TDs) at his disposal.

Tailback Joseph Randle cannot be overlooked however, as he is certainly capable of taking over a game. Randle is averaging 98.6 ypg and has racked up 690 yards and 12 TDs in the first seven games.

Briles is certainly impressed with OSU's offense, particularly Weeden.

"Well, he's real accurate with the football. He's not a panic guy, and I think that comes from the maturity and experience he's had through his athletic career. They protect him well schematically. He gets the ball out of his hand, they don't ask him to do things he doesn't feel comfortable doing and they run the ball well enough to keep pressure off of him. He's in the right situation at the right time for him, and vice versa."

The OSU defense is a few steps behind the offense in terms of productivity, but it has yet to cost the team a victory. The Cowboys are giving up 26.9 ppg in 2011 and have been particularly vulnerable to the run (186.9 ypg). The pass defense has been much better, as the team's ability to create a pass rush (20 sacks) has helped in amassing 15 interceptions this season.

Free safety Daytawion Lowe leads the team with 49 total tackles. Defensive end Jamie Blatnick (32 tackles, 8.5 TFLs, 6.0 sacks) is the top pass rusher and cornerback Brodrick Brown (22 tackles, four INTs) has proved to be a ballhawk.

The Bears are a strong team with Griffin at the helm, but OSU is equally explosive, if not more so. Expect Weeden and company to light it up in front of the home crowd and remain unbeaten both in and out of the league as a result.
