Troy (2-5) at Navy (2-6) (ET)

FACTS & STATS: Site: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (34,000) -- Annapolis, Maryland. Television: CBSSN. Home Record: Troy 2-1, Navy 1-3. Away Record: Troy 0-4, Navy 1-3. Neutral Record: Troy 0-0, Navy 0-0. Conference Record: Troy 1-3, Navy 0-0. Series Record: First-ever meeting.

GAME NOTES: The Troy Trojans suffered a heart-breaking loss to FIU last week after Michael Taylor missed an extra point in regulation, and a potential game-tying field goal in overtime. The Trojans hope to bounce back this week as they travel to Annapolis to take on the Navy Midshipmen.

Troy is having a surprisingly poor season as it usually battles to the end of the Sun Belt Conference schedule. Navy will close out non-conference play for the Trojans, who have lost three straight.

Navy is mired in a six-game losing streak after starting the season at 2-0. Four of the losses have come by three points or less, but the Midshipmen have a sour taste in their mouth after being dismantled by Notre Dame, 56-14, in their most recent outing. Navy has posted a winning record in each of the past eight seasons, but at just 2-6 that streak is in serious jeopardy.

This game marks the first meeting between Troy and Navy on the gridiron. The Midshipmen defeated Western Kentucky of the Sun Belt earlier this season, 40-14. Western Kentucky is currently third in the Sun Belt, while Troy is tied for sixth place. The game will be Senior Day for the Midshipmen, who have an eight-game win streak in such contests.

Troy's offense has struggled in recent weeks. ULM held the Trojans to a measly 126 yards before FIU allowed them to gain 299 yards the following week. Troy proved earlier in the season it has the capability of producing as it averaged 500 yards per game in its two wins.

Corey Robinson leads the pass-heavy offense with 1,982 yards, nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. His 281.4 yards of offense per game ranks second in the conference. The sophomore quarterback had thrown for more than 300 yards in four straight games before being held to 129 yards by ULM and 203 yards by FIU. Despite his recent struggles, Robinson is certainly capable of putting up big numbers.

Running back Shawn Southward has scored a touchdown in two straight games for the Trojans. The tailback leads the team with 291 rushing yards on the season. Eric Thompson is ranked seventh in the Sun Belt in receiving yards with 451 yards on 35 receptions.

Troy's defense ranks 114th in the nation with an average of 469.4 yards allowed per game. The run defense, which yields 182.3 yards per game is going to be tested by Navy's option attack. The Trojan defense is led by defensive back Bryden Trawick (62 tackles).

Navy, as is customary, has run the ball almost exclusively this season. The Midshipmen rely on their fifth-ranked running game to chew up huge chunks of yardage and put points on the scoreboard. Navy averages 408.8 yards per game.

Quarterback Kriss Proctor is listed as probable for this matchup. Proctor has only attempted 72 passes this season, but leads the team in rushing with 591 yards and eight touchdowns. Last week against Notre Dame, Navy was without its star quarterback and it definitely took a toll as the offense was only able to gain 229 yards.

Fullback Alexander Teich is second on the team in rushing with 580 yards on 124 carries. Teich has not surpassed the 100-yard mark since Navy played Air Force back on October 1.

The Midshipmen defense is currently ranked 92nd in the nation with 426.3 yards allowed per game. Navy has permitted the opposition to gain over 400 yards of total offense in four straight games. The Mids will attempt to bounce back from last week's embarrassing loss to Notre Dame, in which they allowed 56 points to the Fighting Irish. Matt Warrick leads the Navy defense with 70 tackles on the year.

Both of these teams are having off years. Both offenses should be able to get back on track against weak defensive competition this week. Robinson is going to be the key in this one. If the sophomore quarterback can lead Troy to scores and avoid turnovers, the Trojans will have a very good chance at stealing a win. However, if Proctor is able to come back healthy, Navy will give the Trojan defense more than it can handle. Expect a lot of scoring and intensity as both teams are playing for pride.
