GAME NOTES: Still searching for their first win on the season, the Florida Atlantic Owls will take on the Troy Trojans in a Sun Belt Conference bout at Veteran Memorial Stadium.

The Owls currently own the longest losing streak in the nation, having dropped 12 consecutive games, dating back to last year. This season Florida Atlantic has lost all nine of its games and eight of those setbacks have come by double figures. If the Owls are not victorious this weekend, they will have two more chances when they host UAB and ULM to close out the season.

Since opening the year with a 2-2 mark, the Trojans have fallen on hard times, losing five consecutive matchups. This past weekend the team suffered a 38-33 setback to North Texas at home, but home is where Troy has claimed both of its wins.

Troy has dominated Florida Atlantic in the all-time series, winning seven of the eight matchups between the two schools.

Plenty has to go wrong for a team to be winless this late in the season and for FAU, more than enough has. Offensively the team simply can not score, and comes into this game averaging just 12.2 ppg.

On the ground, the team is producing only 91.6 yards per matchup, and the majority of damage has come from Alfred Morris, who is pacing the team with 815 yards and four scores.

Graham Wilbert has handled the quarterback duties for FAU, but he has just 1,038 yards and seven touchdowns against 12 interceptions.

Against FIU, the Owls had trouble scoring again, as they finished with just seven points. Morris was able to rush for 110 yards in the matchup, but the lone score came from Wilbert, who also finished with 164 yards, but was intercepted three times.

Compounding the problems for FAU has been the play of the defense, or lack thereof. Florida Atlantic was simply overmatched against FIU, as the Panthers racked up 219 rushing yards and three scores.

Stopping the run has been a big issue for this unit, and so far opponents are clobbering the Owls for 173.0 ypg and have already scored 21 touchdowns against FAU. There are not many positives for this team, but there is one player that is leading by example and that is David Hinds, who has racked up 90 tackles and eight TFLs.

The Trojans used to be the class of the Sun Belt, but now they are struggling for consistency behind an offense that scores just 22.6 ppg.

It has been tough for this offense to find the end zone, because it is not balanced. The ground game has done very little, posting just 103.8 ypg. Because of that the pressure has fallen on the shoulders of quarterback Corey Robinson, but he is not ready to carry the load. Sure, he has done a solid job, throwing for 2,401 yards and 14 touchdowns, but that is not enough to make this team a winner each week.

Robinson had a strong outing against North Texas, throwing for 267 yards and four touchdowns, but that was still not enough for this team to win. Robinson also scored on the ground, but the rushing attack as a whole, was nothing special, racking up just 116 yards on 3.5 yards per carry.

On top of the lack of success offensively, the defense has also come up short this season, and because of that Troy comes into this weekend allowing 34.6 ppg. Troy has been unable to stop the run, or pass, as teams are producing 204.2 ypg on the ground, and another 274.2 ypg via the pass.

Troy's poor play defensively was showcased in the loss to North Texas, as the Mean Green Rumbled for 172 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 331 yards and two more scores through the air.

Kanorris Davis led the way in the loss with 11 tackles, while Brannon Bryan added 10 stops.

Troy has been terrible defensively, but so have the Owls. Even though Florida Atlantic should be able to score in this game, the Owls won't be able to post enough points to win.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Troy 45, Florida Atlantic 31
