GAME NOTES: The rookies of the Pac 12 will rekindle the Rumble in the Rockies rivalry that has been put on hold since 1962, as the Colorado Buffaloes head to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Utes in the season finale for both squads.

Colorado's first year in the Pac 12 has not been a fairy tale. The Buffaloes are 2-10 and have won just one conference game. Colorado's wins have come over Colorado State and Arizona. Coach Jon Embree's squad had a losing streak of seven straight before taking down the Wildcats on November 12th. The Buffaloes were smothered by UCLA 45-6 in their last outing.

Utah has won four straight games to remain in contention for a spot in the inaugural Pac 12 championship game. The Utes started out 3-4 before the streak, which may have cost them a trip to the championship game as they need UCLA and USC to lose in order to be eligible. The most recent win on the streak was an overtime win at Washington State.

From 1903-1962, these two teams met every year but four (1909, 1918, 1959, 1960), before the rivalry came to a halt. Utah's 57 games against Colorado is its most against a Pac- 12 school. Utah trails Colorado 30-24-3 overall but leads 14-13-2 at home.

Colorado's offense has struggled to produce points this season. The Buffaloes have scored 20 points or more in only two of their last five games. The offense is ranked 96th in the nation in total yards.

Despite the unimpressive record and statistics, Tyler Hansen has not done a bad job at quarterback. The senior quarterback has thrown for 2619 yards and 19 touchdowns with a completion rate of 55.6 percent. Hansen only had thrown seven interceptions before being picked off three times by the Bruins in last week's loss.

Rodney Stewart is the main option in the Buffaloes' rushing attack. Stewart heads into his final collegiate football game with 819 yards on the ground on 179 attempts.

Toney Clemons has come on as of late for Colorado. The senior wideout has 19 catches for 374 yards and five touchdowns in his last four games.

Colorado has not performed very well on the defensive side of the ball this season either. The Buffaloes are ranked 104th in the nation in total defense and 117th in scoring defense as they are allowing 453 yards and 38.4 points per game. Colorado has allowed over 400 yards of total offense in its last eight games and over 500 yards of total offense in six of those contests.

Utah was not an offensive powerhouse to start the year, but has scored 30 points or more in its last three outings. The offense is ranked 109th in the nation with 311.9 yards of total offense per game.

The recent spurt of offensive production has been due to the stellar play of running back John White. The junior has rushed for 667 yards and seven touchdowns in Utah's last four games.

The passing game has been run by Jon Hays since Jordan Wynn injured his shoulder in early October. Hays had two three-interception games early on, but has not thrown a pick in his last four games. With Hays playing the role of game manager instead of gun slinger while White shreds defenses, the Utah attack has been exceptional.

The Utes' rushing defense is one of the best in the nation as it ranks ninth in yards allowed on the ground per game. The secondary was huge in the overtime win over the Cougars as it picked off Washington State's Connor Holliday four times en route to the victory. Opponents have managed to score an average of 19.9 points per game this season as the Utes have held four teams to 10 points or less.

Utah is red hot and optimistic about a possible appearance in the conference championship game, while the Buffaloes' postseason hopes ended weeks ago. Colorado's lineup consists of many seniors who will be playing their last game which could have an impact as they leave it all on the field. The Buffaloes and Utes might not be as far away talent level when looking at common opponents. Colorado lost by just four to Washington State, a team Utah beat by three in overtime. Utah's win over Washington State is even more suspect due to the Cougars' missing their starting quarterback. The Utes either had an off day or they might be losing the momentum that carried them to four wins in a row.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Utah 31, Colorado 27
