NCAA Game Summary - New Mexico State at Minnesota

Final Score: New Mexico St 28 - Minnesota 21

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - New Mexico State knocked off a Big Ten opponent for the first time in school history, holding on for a 28-21 victory against Minnesota at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The Golden Gophers (0-2) remain winless on the season following the loss, but the setback was overshadowed by the collapse of head coach Jerry Kill.

Kill, who has suffered seizures in the past, was carted off the field and taken to a local hospital in the waning moments of the game and has since been listed in stable condition.

The Aggies (1-1) got a strong performance from quarterback Andrew Manley, who threw for 288 yards, as NMSU ended a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Manley opened up the scoring at the 12:01 mark of the first quarter with a 26- yard TD pass to Taveon Rogers.

Minnesota knotted things up at the 4:17 mark of the first quarter with a 10- play, 88-yard drive, capped off by a four-yard TD run by Lamonte Edwards.

Manley and Rogers connected once again early in the second frame, this one from 41 yards out to put the Aggies up 14-7.

Just over five minutes later, Manley tossed his third TD pass of the half, this one a four-yarder to David Quiroga.

The Golden Gophers cut the deficit in half in the waning moments of the first half, as quarterback Marqueis Gray hit Collin McGarry from 10 yards out with eight seconds left.

Back and forth play in the third quarter produced nothing on the scoreboard, until NMSU drove 94 yards late in the quarter, capped off when Robert Clay punched it in the end zone from two yards out, giving the Aggies a 28-14 lead at the end of three quarters.

The Gophers opened up the scoring in the fourth quarter, pulling to within one score of the Aggies with a four-yard TD pass from Gray to Da'Jon McKnight, but failed in their bid to tie things up in the waning moments, deep in Aggie territory when coach Kill suffered his seizure.
