NCAA Game Summary - Kent State at Kansas State

Final Score: Kent State 0 - Kansas State 37

Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - Collin Klein ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns as he helped pace the Kansas State Wildcats in a 37-0 win over the Kent State Golden Flashes in non-conference action at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Klein carried the ball 19 times for the Wildcats (2-0) and converted 9-of-18 passes for another 74 yards and a score as well for the hosts.

The Golden Flashes (0-3) failed to produce much on offense as quarterback Spencer Keith converted 11-of-23 passes for a mere 81 yards, was sacked twice and intercepted two times as the team remained winless on the campaign.

Almost immediately the Kansas State defense asserted itself as David Garrett returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown just over two minutes into the first quarter, getting the hosts out to a 7-0 lead.

Klein had a hand in each of the next three touchdowns for the Wildcats as he posted scoring runs of five and four yards, with a three-yard TD pass to Sheldon Smith in between to make the score 28-0 with 5:35 remaining in the first half.

Kansas State kicker Anthony Cantele got in on the action later in the second quarter with successful field goals of 49 and 22 yards, giving the hosts a monumental 34-0 lead at the break.

The only scoring in the second half was again thanks to Cantele who booted a 30-yard field goal late in the third quarter to cap the night's scoring.

Kent State, which entered the weekend ranked 119th in the country in rushing with a mere 31.5 ypg, picked up the pace a bit with 118 yards on 36 attempts, but it still didn't make a difference in the end result.
