Final Score: Georgia 27 - Ole Miss 13
Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Freshman running back Isaiah Crowell erupted for a career-high 147 yards, as Georgia (2-2, 1-1 SEC) evened up its SEC record with a convincing 27-13 road win at Ole Miss (1-3, 0-2).
The Bulldogs dominated play on both sides of the football, outgaining the hometown Rebels, 475-183 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Crowell was the offensive star of the game, but Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray managed the offense well, completing 17-of-26 passes, for 268 yards and two TDs.
Ole Miss did little right offensively, as quarterbacks Randall Mackey and Zack Stoudt combined for a mere 12-of-30 passing, for 149 yards, with one TD and two INTs.
Despite playing in a hostile SEC environment in Oxford, Georgia got off to a good start. The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first, with a 36-yard field goal from Blair Walsh, capping off an 11-play, 61-yard drive. Murray added a one-yard TD run with just over a minute to play in the first quarter, and a two-yard TD pass to Orson Charles at the six-minute mark of the second quarter to give Georgia a 17-0 lead.
Ole Miss gave the hometown faithful something to cheer about just one minute later, as the Rebels got on the scoreboard, with a 38-yard TD pass from Mackey to Donte Moncrief.
A wild finish to the first half, had the two teams trade touchdowns. Murray threw his second TD pass of the half, this one a 35-yarder to Aron White with 2:38 remaining in the frame, giving Georgia a 24-7 lead. Ole Miss countered with an 81-yard punt return for a score on a reverse from Jeff Scott and Nickolas Brassell. A botched snap on the extra point, resulted in a miss, leaving the score 24-13 in favor of Georgia at the half.
There was very little scoring after the break, as a scoreless third quarter gave way to a mere three points in the fourth. Walsh made it 27-13 with just over four minutes to play in the game to finish off the scoring.
The Bulldogs, who have now won nine straight over the Rebels, improved to 31-12-1 all-time against Ole Miss. This was the first meeting since 2007.
