Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Brett Baer kicked a 26-yard field goal as regulation time expired to give the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns a 37-34 win over the Florida Atlantic Owls in a Sun Belt Conference game at Cajun Field.
It was Baer's third field goal of the game.
Blaine Gautier was 26-of-33 through the air for the Ragin' Cajuns (4-1,2-0 Sun Belt) who have won four straight since losing their opener at Oklahoma State. Harry Peoples caught 12 balls for 176 yards and a score.
Graham Wilbert was 20-of-38 through the air for the Owls (0-4,0-1 Sun Belt).Alfred Morris rushed for 80 yards on 19 carries.
Louisiana took a 7-0 lead when Gautier hit Peoples with a 31-yard scoring pass three-and-a-half minutes after the opening kickoff.
Florida Atlantic got on the board on Vinny Zaccario's 26-yard field goal with three-and-a-half minutes left in the quarter, then took a 10-7 lead when Wilbert hit Darian Williams with a 24-yard scoring pass just before the quarter ended.
The Owls extended their lead to 17-7 when Morris scored on a six-yard run with nine minutes left in the first half.
The Ragin'Cajuns drew closer when Gautier hit Darryl Surgent with a 42-yard scoring pass midway through the second quarter, then moved in front when Qyendarius Griffin scored from two yards out to give Louisiana a 21-17 lead with three-and-a-half minutes left in the first half,
Zaccario's 36-yard field goal on the final play of the half brought the Owls within a point at 21-20.
Louisiana extended its lead to 24-20 on Baer's 47-yard field goal with six-and- a-half minutes left in the third period.
It became a 31-20 game when Alonzo Harris raced nine yards for a Bulldog touchdown two minutes into the fourth quarter.
Baer extended the Ragin' Cajuns lead to 14 points with a 46-yard field goal midway through the period, but the Owls weren't finished,.
Wilbert found Nexon Dorvilus on a five-yard connection with five-and-a-half minutes left, then hit Xavier Stinson on a 12-yard throw just inside the two- minute mark.
Baer's winning kick capped a 10-play, 68-yard drive.
Florida Atlantic managed just 105 net rushing yards. The Ragin' Cajuns averaged exactly six yards per offensive snap.
