NCAA Game Summary - Texas Tech at Kansas

Final Score: Texas Tech 45 - Kansas 34

Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Seth Doege threw for 366 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 45-34 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks in a Big 12 Conference tilt at Memorial Stadium.

Doege completed 29-of-46 passes for the Red Raiders (4-0, 1-0 Big 12), who also got 124 yards and a pair of scores on the ground from Eric Stephens. Cornelius Douglas led the Texas Tech receiving corps with four catches for 98 yards, while Eric Ward nabbed four passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

Jordan Webb threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns to lead Kansas (2-2, 0-1) in the losing effort, but the Jayhawks signal-caller was also guilty of three costly interceptions as well. Brandon Bourbon ran for 101 yards and a score on just 10 carries in the contest, while James Sims gained 85 yards on the ground with a touchdown as well. The Jayhawks have now lost two straight after opening the 2011 campaign with back-to-back victories.

Sims found the end zone early in the opening period of play following an 11-yard scamper. The Jayhawks were left with a 6-0 lead, however, as the extra point attempt by Alex Mueller was blocked. The Jayhawks hit paydirt again just minutes later with a 51-yard Bourbon run.

A fumble recovery by Kansas wideout Kale Pick in the end zone late in the frame extended the Jayhawks advantage to 20-0.

The Red Raiders got on the board just over two minutes later thanks to a one- yard DeAndre Washington plunge. Doege connected with Ward and Jacoby Franks on scoring plays of 40 and 13 yards, respectively, just minutes apart to give Texas Tech a 21-20 advantage.

A 46-yard Donnie Carona field goal midway through the second frame pushed the Red Raiders to four points, but a 19-yard strike from Webb to Rell Lewis with under a minute remaining in the half enabled the Jayhawks to reclaim the lead, 27-24.

An eight-yard Stephens touchdown run early in the third quarter gave Texas Tech a 31-27 lead, while a one-yard Stephens score midway through the frame pushed the advantage to 38-27.

The Red Raiders extended their advantage to 45-27 late in the period on an 18-yard toss from Doege to Ward.

The Jayhawks added a 10-yard scoring toss from Webb to A.J. Steward late in the final period of play, accounting for the final score of the contest.

With the victory, the Red Raiders have a seven-game win streak dating back to last season.
