A 35-yard Blair Walsh field goal gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead midway through the opening frame.

The Volunteers responded with a field goal of their own, a 28-yard Michael Palardy conversion late in the second frame to knot things up at three apiece.

Walsh connected again with under two minutes remaining in the half, a 23-yard kick, but the Volunteers responded with yet another Palardy conversion, this time from 43 yards away, to send things into the break tied at 6-6.

The Bulldogs took a 13-6 lead midway through the third period with a one-yard Crowell plunge, and extended the advantage to 20-6 late in the frame with a 17-yard Crowell scamper.

Tennessee added a one-yard Matt Simms plunge with just over two minutes remaining in the contest, but Georgia was able to hang on and secure the eight-point win.
