NCAA Game Summary - East Carolina at Memphis

Final Score: East Carolina 35 - Memphis 17

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Dominique Davis threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns as he led the East Carolina Pirates to a 35-17 win over the Memphis Tigers in Conference UCA action at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

Davis finished the night converting 28-of-37 passes for the Pirates (2-4, 2-1 C-USA) as they snapped a two-game slide. Torrance Hunt contributed a game-high 98 yards and a score on 16 rushing attempts as well.

The Tigers (1-6, 0-3), losers of four in a row, were led by Taylor Reed who stepped in to convert 5-of-12 passes for 53 yards and the lone offensive TD for the home team. Skylar Jones hit on 10-of-18 passes himself for 124 yards, but he was sacked twice and tossed a pair of interceptions in the losing cause.

Memphis actually opened with 10 straight points in the first quarter, thanks to a 19-yard field goal by Paulo Henriques and a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Martin Ifedi.

From there ECU ripped off 35 consecutive points to take control of the action. Davis got the Pirates on the board in the second quarter with a 12-yard TD pass to Derrick Harris, making the score 10-7 which is where it stood at the break.

In the third quarter Hunt made his way into the end zone on a nine-yard run early in the frame, followed by TD passes from Davis to Justin Hardy and Lance Lewis of 58 and 12 yards, respectively. Davis capped the scoring streak for the Pirates with a one-yard TD run of his own at the 10:45 mark of the fourth quarter, giving the visitors a commanding 35-10 advantage.

Later in the period Reed hit Tannar Rehrer with an eight-yard TD strike to cap an eight-play, 45-yard drive, but it was simply too little, too late in the double-digit loss for the Tigers.

East Carolina finished the night averaging seven yards per snap and generating a total of 524 yards, all while limiting Memphis to just 233 yards. The Tigers entered the week ranked 112th in the country in yards per game with just 298.8.
