Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Kolton Browning threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns as the ULM Warhawks crushed the Troy Trojans, 38-10, in a Sun Belt Conference battle at Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
Browning connected on 23-of-31 passes for the Warhawks (2-4, 1-1 SBC) as they snapped a three-game slide. Also having a big game were Tavarese Maye with seven catches for 161 yards and a score, while Centarius Donald accounted for a game-high 112 yards and a TD on 14 carries.
The Trojans (2-4, 1-2), losers of two straight, had trouble getting their offense on track as Corey Robinson completed 19-of-34 passes for 129 yards, but was sacked four times and had a pair of attempts picked off. The squad ran the ball a total of 21 times, but the result was negative-14 yards for the night.
Following a scoreless first quarter, Troy put the first points on the board with a 20-yard field goal by Michael Taylor.
With the clock winding down in the first half, ULM responded with a 34-yard field goal by Justin Manton to knot the score at 3-3 at the break.
Again in the third quarter, the Trojans took the lead when Shawn Southward hit the end zone on an 11-yard run, but from there ULM took over with 35 unanswered points to cruise to the victory.
The visitors began their scoring streak with a one-yard TD run by Jyruss Edwards at the 9:21 mark of the third quarter and continued with TD passes of 38 and 13 yards to Maye and Colby Harper, respectively.
Ahead by a score of 22-10 entering the fourth quarter, the Warhawks added to the advantage with a one-yard scoring pass from Browning to Mitchell Bailey to cap a nine-play, 80-yard drive. The squad added a safety less than a minute later and then down the stretch Donald raced 16 yards into the end zone to give the visitors the 28-point win.
Troy, which finished with a mere 126 yards of total offense on 57 plays, came into the weekend ranked second in the conference and 27th nationally with an average of 456.4 ypg.
