Storrs, CT (Sports Network) - Lyle McCombs ran for 130 yards on 32 carries to lead the Connecticut Huskies passed the South Florida Bulls, 16-10, in a Big East Conference clash at Rentschler Field.

Johnny McEntee threw for 103 yards while taking the snaps for the Huskies (3-4, 1-1 Big East), who snapped a two-game slide with the win.

B.J. Daniels threw for 164 yards and ran for 64 yards with a touchdown to lead South Florida (4-2, 0-2) in the loss, but the Bulls signal-caller was also responsible for a pair of costly interceptions as well.

The Bulls took a 3-0 lead early in the opening period of play with a 23-yard Maikon Bonani field goal.

The Huskies responded with a field goal of their own, an 18-yard kick from Dave Teggart, late in the stanza.

A 46-yard boot from Teggart as time expired in the half gave the Huskies a 6-3 advantage.

USF earned a 10-6 lead following a 22-yard run by Daniels early in the third quarter.

Teggart pulled the Huskies to within 10-9 midway through the frame with a 28- yard kick, while a fumble recovery by Byron Jones returned 10 yards for a score just over a minute later gave Connecticut a 16-10 lead that it would not relinquish.
