Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Ryan Aplin ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to help the Arkansas State Red Wolves beat the FIU Panthers, 34-16.
Aplin completed 14-of-24 passes for 147 yards and an interception for the Red Wolves (5-2, 3-0 Sun Belt), who have won four in a row. He carried the ball 21 times for 164 yards.
Frankie Jackson carried the ball 12 times for 39 yards and caught two passes for 44 yards.
Wesley Carroll connected on 23-of-37 passes for 223 yards, one touchdown and an interception for the Panthers (4-3, 1-2), who have lost three of four.
Kedrick Rhodes carried the ball 20 times for 74 yards. T.Y. Hilton caught six passes for 97 yards and a score.
Down by three, 16-13, the Red Wolves scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to claim victory. Allen Muse got things going three plays into the final frame, catching a four-yard TD pass to give Arkansas State a 20-16 edge.
The Red Wolves put together a nine-play, 64-yard drive later in the fourth. Faced with a 4th-and-1 from the FIU 42, Derek Lawson rushed for two yards. Aplin completed the march on a seven-yard TD run with 3 1/2 minutes to go.
Qushaun Lee intercepted Carroll on the ensuing Panthers possession. Lawson then sprinted into the end zone from nine yards out to make it a 34-16 contest.
