Muncie, IN (Sports Network) - Keith Wenning threw for a career-high 325 yards and three touchdowns as the Ball State Cardinals rallied for a 31-27 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas in a Mid-American Conference game at Scheumann Stadium.

The Cardinals (5-3, 3-1 MAC) scored 28 points in the second half and came from behind twice. Briggs Orsbon caught eight passes for 87 yards and a score while Jack Tomlinson caught six balls for a career-high 109 yards.

Ryan Radcliff was 30-of-44 through the air in a losing effort for the Chippewas (2-6, 1-3). He produced 436 yards and three touchdowns. David Blackburn caught nine balls for 194 yards and two scores. Zurlon Tipton ran for 110 yards on 18 carries.

The Chippewas got on the scoreboard when David Hartman booted a 45-yard field goal with 8:16 left in the first quarter.

It became a 10-0 game when Radcliff hit Blackburn with a 19-yard scoring toss at the 2:46 mark.

The pair hooked up again on a 60-yard pass to put the Chippewas up 17-0 with 10:34 left in the first half.

Ball State got its first points when Steven Schott kicked a 25-yard field goal on the final play of the half.

CMU extended its lead to 20-3 on Harman's 38-yard field goal at the 11:14 mark of the third quarter.

Wenning's 28-yard TD pass to Orsbon made it a 20-10 game with 6:42 left in the quarter. The Cardinals got closer when, after a Central Michigan fumble, Jahwan Edwards scored from a yard out at the 5:14 mark. Ball State took the lead for the first time when Wenning hit Aaron Mershman on a two-yard touchdown pass with 1:18 remaining.

Central Michigan regained the lead when Radcliff hit Cody Wilson with a 10- yard touchdown throw at the 11:45 mark of the fourth quarter but Wenning completed his team's comeback when he hit Jamill Smith on a 34-yard touchdown connection with 9:41 left in regulation.

Sean Baker preserved the victory with an interception on the final play.

The comeback is tied for the fourth largest in Ball State history, matching a 17-point turnaround against Ohio on October 12, 1996.

Central Michigan outgained Ball State, 569 yards to 455.
