NCAA Game Summary - Ohio University at Akron

Final Score: Ohio U 37 - Akron 20

Akron, OH (Sports Network) - Tyler Tettleton threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns as he led the Ohio University Bobcats to a 37-20 win over the Akron Zips in a Mid-American Conference bout at InfoCision Stadium.

Tettleton completed 21-of-29 passes and was intercepted once as the Bobcats (5-3, 2-2 MAC) snapped a two-game slide. Donte Harden accounted for a game- high 123 yards on 22 rushing attempts, while Tettleton registered one of the team's two rushing scores as well.

The Zips (1-6, 0-3), losers of three in a row and all six of their meetings against members of the Football Bowl Subdivision this season, were paced by Clayton Moore who converted 13-of-26 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown in the setback.

The only points of the first quarter came courtesy of Ohio kicker Matt Weller who knocked through a 24-yard field goal at the 7:01 mark of the period.

In the second quarter Akron responded with a 43-yard field goal by A.J. Fox to lock the score at 3-3.

Ohio rattled off another 10 points before the end of the first half as Tettleton connected with LaVon Brazill on a 78-yard TD pass and Weller knocked through a 27-yard field goal to give the visitors a 13-3 edge at the break.

In the third quarter the Bobcats continued to pile on as Tettleton delivered a 36-yard TD strike to Riley Dunlop and Weller booted a 23-yard field goal to push the lead to 23-3.

Akron responded late in the third quarter when, with a short field, Moore hit Keith Sconiers with a four-yard TD pass to make the score 23-10.

Capping a 13-play, 75-yard drive which ate up five minutes on the clock, Tettleton crossed the goal line on a one-yard run at the 10:26 mark of the fourth quarter.

On the ensuing drive the Zips moved the ball 55 yards on six plays, but had to settle for a 42-yard field goal which made the score 30-13.

Shortly thereafter, Ohio running back Beau Blankenship hit the end zone on a six-yard run, giving the Bobcats a healthy 24-point advantage.

In a last gasp, Akron's Patrick Nicely combined with Marquelo Suel on a six- yard TD pass play, but still the hosts were left with the 37-20 setback.

Akron, which was just 1-11 in 2010, last defeated another FBS school in the season finale last year, topping Buffalo in a 22-14 decision at home.
