Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Sean Mannion threw for 376 yards and four touchdowns to lead Oregon State to a 44-21 win over Washington State in Pac-12 action at CenturyLink Field.
Malcolm Agnew rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown for Oregon State (2-5,2-2 Pac-12), which amassed 551 yards of total offense. Markus Wheaton added five catches and 99 yards for the Beavers.
Quarterbacks Jeff Tuel and Marshall Lobbestael combined to complete 21-of-33 passes for 232 yards and one touchdown with one interception for Washington State (3-4,1-3), which turned the ball over three times and gained only 315 yards of total offense.
Oregon State struck first, as Mannion found Jordan Jenkins for a 31-yard touchdown to make it 7-0 with just over eight minutes to play in the first quarter.
Washington State countered early in the second quarter, as Tuel found Marquess Wilson for a 20-yard touchdown to tie the game and capping a nine-play, 80-yard scoring drive.
Mannion responded by engineering a lengthy scoring drive of his own just minutes later, hitting Brandin Cooks with a 12-yard touchdown pass to cap an eight-play, 89-yard drive that made it 14-7 with 10:58 remaining in the second quarter.
The Cougars tied the game again just 57 seconds later, on a one-yard rushing touchdown from Tuel, which was set up by a 48-yard pass from Tuel to Wilson two plays earlier.
Agnew scored on the next drive on a three-yard scamper, and Trevor Romaine hit a 26-yard field goal with 26 seconds in the first half to give Oregon State a 24-14 lead.
On the opening drive of the third quarter, Mannion orchestrated an eight-play, 75-yard march that culmintaed in a 25-yard touchdown pass to Joe Halahuni to balloon the lead to 31-14.
After Romaine made it 34-14 at the 14:50 mark of the fourth quarter, Washington State scored its only points of the second half on a two-yard touchdown run from Carl Winston.
Mannion went back to work on the next drive, hitting Clayton York for an 18- yard touchdown pass that pushed the lead to 41-21 midway through the fourth quarter, and Romaine concluded the scoring with a 25-yarder with 3:31 remaining to ice the second win of the season for the Beavers.
