NCAA Game Summary - Wake Forest at Duke

Final Score: Wake Forest 24 - Duke 23

Durham, NC (Sports Network) - Chris Givens had 147 yards receiving and two touchdown catches, including the deciding score midway through the fourth quarter as Wake Forest notched a 24-23 win over the Duke Blue Devils in an ACC clash at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Tanner Price completed 15-of-25 passes with the bulk of his 215 passing yards going to Givens, helping the Demon Deacons (5-2, 4-1 ACC) earn their 12th consecutive win over Duke.

Sean Renfree threw for 213 yards and an interception on 28-of-45 passing for the Blue Devils (3-4, 1-2), who have now dropped two in a row since the end of a three-game winning streak.

Wake Forest controlled the game in the early going. Price got the Demon Deacons on the board first with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Givens at the 4:37 mark of the opening quarter. Jimmy Newman tacked on three more points with a 38-yard field goal early in the second quarter. Later in the same frame, Brandon Pendergrass pushed the lead to 17-0 on a two-yard touchdown run with four minutes to play until halftime.

Duke's Will Snyderwine kicked a 26-yard field goal just before the half to get the Blue Devils on the board.

That momentum carried into the third quarter as the Blue Devils opened the second half with a 15-play, 61-yard drive, capped by Snyderwine's 38-yard field goal.

Anthony Boone followed up with a couple of rushing touchdowns to give Duke a 20-17 lead. The first came on a one-yard run late in the third quarter, and the second came on a two-yard run with 11:35 to play in the fourth. Snyderwine tacked on a 19-yard field goal at the 7:14 mark to make it a 23-17 game.

However, on the first play of the ensuing possession, Price found Givens for a 66-yard scoring strike to put Wake Forest on top, 24-23, and the score would remain that way until the final whistle.

Duke held a 25-13 edge in first downs and a 372-305 advantage in total yards for the game. However, the Blue Devils had to settle for field goals on three of their five trips to the red zone.
