Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Jack Griffin booted a 22-yard chip shot in overtime to hand FIU a 23-20 victory over Troy in a Sun Belt Conference tilt.

Kedrick Rhodes ran for a career-high 172 yards on 30 carries, while Wesley Carroll passed for 285 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for the Panthers (5-3, 2-2 Sun Belt), who overcame four turnovers to rebound from a loss at Arkansas State last week.

Corey Robinson completed 17-of-31 passes for 203 yards and two interceptions for Troy (2-5, 1-3), which has dropped three straight and fell to 0-5 all-time in overtime.

The Trojans did not advance the ball on the first possession of overtime, and Michael Taylor, who missed an extra point in the third quarter, was wide left on a 43-yard field goal attempt.

Rhodes was given a handoff each snap on the ensuing possession and moved the ball to the four-yard line, where Griffin lined up and split the uprights for the game-winner.

Troy's D.J. Taylor ran for a 14-yard touchdown for the only points in the first quarter, and Griffin made it 7-3 at halftime with a 32-yard kick.

A pair of big pass plays by Carroll gave the Panthers a 17-7 lead midway through the third. First, Carroll connected with Wayne Times on a 76-yard score, then he hit Jacob Younger for a 43-yard TD.

The Trojans re-gained the lead with two touchdowns in under one minute. Shawn Southward cut into the deficit on a three-yard score with 2:21 left in the third, and Tony Davis returned a fumble 29 yards to paydirt just 52 seconds later.

Taylor missed the extra point following Southward's TD, allowing Griffin's 20- yard field goal with 3:31 remaining in regulation to tie things.
