NCAA Game Summary - Hawaii at Idaho

Final Score: Hawaii 16 - Idaho 14

Moscow, ID (Sports Network) - Kenton Chun's 35-yard field goal with just 32 seconds remaining proved to be the difference as the Hawaii Warriors slipped by the Idaho Vandals in a 16-14 final in Western Athletic Conference action at the Kibbie Dome.

Idaho kicker Trey Farquhar had a chance to give the Vandals (1-7, 0-4 WAC) the win with time running down, but his 53-yard field goal attempt sailed wide left at the gun as the hosts lost their sixth straight outing.

Idaho quarterbacks Taylor Davis and Brian Reader combined to hit 11-of-24 passes for a mere 85 yards and a couple of interceptions in the setback.

For the Warriors (5-3, 3-1), a team which entered the week averaging 36.9 ppg to lead the WAC and place 22nd in the nation, they were led by Bryant Moniz who converted 32-of-53 passes for 338 yards and one touchdown, but the signal- caller was intercepted once and was sacked six times on the day.

Idaho's offense put together a decent drive in the first quarter, but needed a fumble recovery in the end zone by Matt Cleveland to actually put points on the board and give the hosts a 7-0 advantage.

In the second quarter Billy Ray Stutzmann reeled in a two-yard scoring pass from Moniz to knot the score at 7-7. Chun added a 27-yard field goal at the 6:33 mark and fellow kicker Tyler Hadden, mainly responsible for kickoffs, added a 47-yard field goal to give the Warriors a 13-7 edge at the break.

The only points of the third quarter came courtesy of the Idaho defense as Tracy Carter scooped up a fumble and raced 70 yards to the end zone to give the hosts a 14-13 advantage, setting up the thrilling ending in the final minute of the fourth period.

The Vandals, averaging a mere 291.7 ypg of total offense heading into the week (last in the WAC and 114th nationally), generated only 234 yards while converting 3-of-13 on third down.
