Final Score: San Jose St 28 - Louisiana Tech 38

Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - Colby Cameron threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns as he helped lead the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 38-28 win over the San Jose State Spartans in Western Athletic Conference play at Joe Aillet Stadium.

Cameron converted 17-of-27 passes for LaTech (4-4, 3-1 WAC) as it won its third straight outing. Lennon Creer accounted for a game-high 112 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs as they generated 260 yards and tallied a pair of TDs on 61 rushing attempts.

The Spartans (3-5, 2-2), losers of two of their last three, were paced by Matt Faulkner who connected on 33-of-49 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns, but he was sacked twice and tossed four interceptions. Running back Brandon Rutley carried the ball 14 times for 23 yards and a score in the loss.

LaTech scored the first points of the day when Matt Nelson connected on a 25- yard field goal.

At the 6:50 mark of the opening period, Rutley's one-yard TD run gave the Spartans a 7-3 lead, but it didn't last for long.

In the second frame Tech's Richie Casey hit the end zone on a 21-yard run to make the score 10-7 in favor of the hosts.

Faulkner began his passing assault in the second quarter when he locked up with Noel Grigsby on a 60-yard touchdown pass play, transferring the lead back to SJSU at 14-10.

But before the first half could end Cameron connected with Quinton Patton on TD passes of 90 and two yards, pushing the LaTech lead to 24-14 at the break.

The first possession of the third quarter also resulted in a touchdown for the Bulldogs on a one-yard score by Creer. Just 20 seconds later Tech's Jay Dudley intercepted a pass and returned it 36 yards for a score to give the home team a 38-14 advantage.

San Jose State closed the gap slightly with TD passes of five and 20 yards to Chandler Jones and Ryan Otten, respectively, but the team was unable to draw within single digits.

Louisiana Tech controlled the ball for almost 35 minutes and generated close to 500 yards of total offense in the matchup.
