NCAA Game Summary - New Mexico State at Georgia

Final Score: New Mexico St 16 - Georgia 63

Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Aaron Murray threw for 238 yards and five touchdowns to five different receivers on 18-of-23 passes as No. 18 Georgia roughed up New Mexico State, 63-16, at Sanford Stadium.

Chris Conley led the way with 126 yards on five receptions, while Orson Charles, Brandon Boykin, Michael Bennett and Aron White were also beneficiaries of Murray's scoring passes for the Bulldogs (7-2), who have won seven in a row and host Auburn next week.

Brandon Harton, Branden Smith and Kyle Karempelis each added a rushing score for Georgia, which ran away with the game thanks to a 42-point second quarter.

"I thought our guys played very hard. We got an awful lot of guys in the game. It's gratifying to see that many guys who don't normally have an opportunity to get in the game," said Georgia head coach Mark Richt. "We got to spread it around, so some of them scored for the first time in their career, and that had to be a lot of fun for them."

Kenny Turner recorded 221 yards of total offense including both a receiving and rushing touchdown for the Aggies (3-6), who have dropped three straight.

Matt Christian started but was 12-of-24 for 156 yards and an interception. Travaugh Colwell ended the contest 8-of-12 for 120 yards and the TD pass to Turner.

The momentum from Tyler Stampler's 24-yard field goal early in the second which pulled NMSU within 7-3 was countered by an avalanche of Georgia offense.

First, Harton rolled in for a four-yard score, an 11-yard connection between Murray and Bennett followed, then Boykin recorded a 42-yard TD reception.

Murray found Conley for a 47-yard touchdown and Charles for a 19-yard score, then he finished the outburst by connecting with White for a six-yard touchdown and it was a 49-3 spread at the half.

Karempelis scored from the one in the third quarter.

Turner's 10-yard TD run opened the scoring in the fourth, but Hutson Mason tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Rhett McGowan for a 63-10 game.

Colwell's 22-yard strike to Turner capped the scoring.

Smith's 56-yard touchdown run put Georgia on the board and was the lone score of the opening quarter.

"This was not Aggie football," groused New Mexico State head coach DeWayne Walker. "I told our guys at the half to come out and play good football and not let them score 49 more points and we didn't. We have to lick our wounds, put this game behind us and get ready for Fresno State."
