Final Score: North Carolina 0 - NC State 13
Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Mike Glennon threw the only touchdown of the contest and NC State's defense did the rest, as the Wolfpack defeated in-state rival North Carolina, 13-0, in an ACC battle at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Glennon finished with 164 yards for NC State (6-4, 2-4), while James Washington led the ground game with 110 yards on 27 carries. It was the first shut out for NC State against the Tar Heels, since claiming a 3-0 victory back in 1960.
The Tar Heels (6-4, 2-4) were unable to get anything going offensively, and finished with just 165 total yards. Bryn Renner and Braden Hanson both saw time under center, but neither quarterback performed well. Renner finished with only 76 yards and was intercepted twice, while Hanson threw for just 86 yards and also tossed a pick. It was the first time North Carolina was shut out since 2006 and the first time the Tar Heels were unable to score in Raleigh since 1921.
Glennon's touchdown pass came in the first quarter, as he gave the Wolfpack a 7-0 lead with a 12-yard toss to T.J. Graham.
Niklas Sade made it a 10-0 midway through the second stanza with a 26-yard boot.
Sade added another field goal in the third quarter when he drilled a 24-yard kick, and that was the final score of the matchup.
