College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Virginia became bowl eligible as Rodney McLeod's three-interception performance led the Cavaliers to a 31-13 victory over ACC foe Maryland at Byrd Stadium.

Virginia (6-3,3-2 ACC) was led offensively by quarterback Michael Rocco, who completed 23-of-35 attempts for 307 yards and two touchdowns. The Cavaliers used Perry Jones successfully all day as the tailback rushed for 139 yards and two scores on 22 carries. Kris Burd and Tim Smith both broke the century mark in receiving yards as they had 112 and 101 yards, respectively.

Meanwhile, Maryland (2-7, 1-5) lost for the fifth straight game. The Terrapins' offense struggled as Danny O'Brien completed just 16-of-36 passes for 241 yards and threw two interceptions. Quintin McCree led Maryland with seven catches for 117 yards and Kerry Boykins was close behind with six grabs for 101 yards.

Virginia started the game out with a 47-yard touchdown run by Jones on the very first play from scrimmage to give the visitors an early lead. Maryland got on the board with less than a minute remaining in the opening period when Nick Ferrara kicked a 24-yard field goal to make it 7-3.

The Terrapins took the lead at the 10:48 mark of the second quarter, when C.J. Brown connected with Devonte Campbell for a 13-yard touchdown pass. With just under three minutes remaining until halftime, Maryland extended its lead with a 20-yard field goal by Ferrara.

The Cavaliers took back the lead and the momentum with 1:34 left in the first half, when Kevin Parks caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Rocco that made it 14-13 going into halftime.

Virginia ran away with the lead in the third quarter with a pair of touchdowns. The first came on a one-yard run by Jones at the 7:21 mark for his second score of the day. Then with just over three minutes left in the quarter, Rocco threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Max Milien to make it 28-13.

Robert Randolph added a 28-yard field goal for UVA in the fourth quarter to account for the final margin.

Virginia's offense outplayed its counterpart as the Cavaliers had a total of 527 yards of offense to Maryland's 353. Maryland rushed for 84 yards on 22 carries in the game, with 67 of those yards coming on two plays.
