NCAA Game Summary - Ohio State at Purdue

Final Score: Ohio State 23 - Purdue 26

West Lafayette, IN (Sports Network) - Robert Marve lifted Purdue to a 26-23 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes with a one-yard touchdown on a quarterback sneak in overtime.

Bruce Gaston afforded the Boilermakers (5-5, 3-3 Big Ten) the overtime opportunity by blocking Ohio State's potential go-ahead extra point in the final minute of regulation. Purdue can now become bowl eligible by winning one of its remaining games against Iowa and Indiana.

The Buckeyes (6-4, 3-3) rallied for what looked like the game-winning touchdown drive late in regulation, but instead saw their win streak halted at three games. Braxton Miller threw a pair of touchdown passes in the loss, although he finished with only 132 yards on 8-of-18 passing.

The Boilermakers struck first with a 19-yard field goal from Carson Wiggs four and a half minutes into the game. They extended their lead to 10-0 at the 4:09 mark of the opening quarter, when Akeem Shavers capped an 11-play, 60-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run.

Ohio State got on the board with 11:42 to play in the second quarter, as Miller connected with Jordan Hall for a 38-yard touchdown pass to make it a 10-7 game.

But Purdue pushed its lead back to 10 courtesy of a seven-yard scoring scamper by Ralph Bolden, which polished off a 13-play, 88-yard drive.

OSU's Miller accounted for the only points of the third quarter with a six- yard touchdown run to trim the margin to 17-14.

Purdue expanded its lead to 20-14 on Wiggs' 44-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. Later in the frame, Miller guided the Buckeyes on a 10-play, 66-yard scoring drive, as he found Hall for a 13-yard touchdown pass on fourth down to tie the score at 20-20 with 55 seconds remaining in regulation. However, Basil's extra-point attempt was blocked, sending the game to overtime.

The Buckeyes had first possession in the extra session but had to settle for three points, as Basil converted a 33-yarder. Purdue was able to capitalize on its first and only possession, and Marve scored the game-winning touchdown on a one-yard run.

OSU had just 295 yards of total offense for the game, compared to 363 yards for Purdue. The Boilermakers scored on all four of their red-zone trips, three of which resulted in touchdowns.
