Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - John White rushed for 167 yards and scored two touchdowns, while also catching a pass for another score, as the Utah Utes rolled over the UCLA Bruins, 31-6, in a Pac-12 game at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The Utes (6-4, 3-4 Pac-12) generated 224 rushing yards on the day. Jon Hays was 5-of-13 through the air for 67 yards as the Utes won their third straight and their fourth in their last five starts.
Johnathan Franklin rushed for 89 yards for the Bruins (5-5, 4-3) on 17 carries. Kevin Prince converted 12-of-24 passes for 146 yards but was sacked three times and tossed a pair of interceptions.
Tyler Gonzalez gave UCLA a 3-0 lead on a 46-yard field goal with 3:19 left in the first quarter.
White scored from a yard out to give Utah a 7-3 lead with 5:34 remaining in the first half.
The Utes extended their lead in the third quarter when Hays hooked up with White on a 13-yard scoring pass at the 9:29 mark. White's 22-yard TD run with 3:18 remaining in the period extended the Utah lead to 21-3.
Gonzalez booted his second field goal of the game, a 35-yard effort, to cut the Utah lead to 21-6 with 13:12 left in the game.
Conroy Black's 67-yard interception return extended the Utah lead to 28-6 with 9:03 remaining before Coleman Petersen booted a 38-yard field goal with 4:05 left.
UCLA was just 4-of-15 on third-down conversions. The Bruins were penalized 12 times for 91 yards.
