Final Score: Akron 10 - Buffalo 51
Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Branden Oliver rumbled 235 rushing yards and two touchdowns, as the Buffalo Bulls routed Akron 51-10 in Mid-American Conference play at UB Stadium.
Fred Lee hauled in a pair of touchdown passes from Chazz Anderson to help the Bulls (3-8, 2-5 MAC) snap a four-game slide.
Akron quarterbacks Patrick Nicely and Clayton Moore combined for just 171 yards on 17-of-35 passing, as the Zips (1-10, 0-7) suffered their seventh straight loss and remain the only MAC team without a win in conference play.
Buffalo did not waste any time getting on the board, as Brandon Murie returned the game's opening kickoff 93 yards all the way down to the Akron 1. On the very next play, Oliver punched it into the end zone to give the Bulls a 7-0 lead less than 20 seconds into the contest.
Akron went three and out on its first possession, and UB answered with a nine- play, 77-yard drive, capped by Anderson's 10-yard touchdown pass to Lee to make it a 14-0 game.
The Zips got on the board with a 36-yard field goal from A.J. Fox at the 5:52 mark of the opening quarter.
UB added to its lead in the second quarter. Patrick Clarke booted three field goals in the frame (41, 49, 26), and Anderson and Lee hooked up for a 13-yard scoring strike to make it a 30-3 game at intermission.
The Bulls opened the floodgates in the second half. Oliver scored his second one-yard rushing touchdown of the day with just under 10 minutes to play in the third quarter, and Anderson tacked on another one-yard TD later in the same frame to make it a 44-3 game.
Akron finally found the end zone at the 12:05 mark of the fourth quarter, as Patrick Nicely connected with Marquelo Suel for a 64-yard scoring strike. However, the Zips had already dug themselves far too deep of a hole. UB notched its final touchdown on a three-yard run by Jeffvon Gill late in regulation.
The Bulls simply dominated from start to finish, as they racked up 28 first downs to only 13 for Akron.
