NCAA Game Summary - Cincinnati at Rutgers

Final Score: Cincinnati 3 - Rutgers 20

Piscataway, NJ (Sports Network) - Redshirt freshman Jawan Jamison ran for a career-high 200 yards and two touchdowns, as Rutgers claimed a share of the Big East Conference lead with a 20-3 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats at High Point Solutions Stadium.

Chas Dodd threw for 182 yards and avoided turnovers to help the Scarlet Knights (8-3, 4-2) stay in contention for a possible Big East crown. The victory moved Rutgers into a tie for first place with Louisville, which beat Connecticut Saturday.

The Bearcats (7-3, 3-2) entered the weekend in first place in the conference standings but are now a half-game back along with West Virginia and Pittsburgh. Cincinnati was playing its first game without starting quarterback Zach Collaros, who suffered a season-ending leg injury against West Virginia last week. Sophomore Munchie Legaux got the starting nod and finished with 158 passing yards and an interception.

The Bearcats lost a fumble deep in their own territory on their opening drive, and Rutgers capitalized with a 12-yard touchdown run from Jamison a little over three minutes into the contest.

Cincinnati's Tony Miliano made it a 7-3 game with a 47-yard field goal later in the first quarter.

San San Te gave the Scarlet Knights a 10-3 lead with a 19-yard field goal late in the second quarter. Rutgers had to settle for three points after stalling on a 23-play drive that took nearly 10 minutes off the clock.

Rutgers opened up a 17-3 lead midway through the third quarter, as Jamison capped an 11-play, 94-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run. Te tacked on a 43-yarder early in the fourth quarter to account for the final margin.

Jamison's 34 carries were the most for a Rutgers player since Ray Rice had 35 against Ball State in 2007. With the running game working all day long, the Scarlet Knights enjoyed a 16-minute advantage in time of possession. Meanwhile, the defense limited Cincinnati to a season-low 225 total yards.
