Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Wes Carroll led the way for the Panthers with three passing touchdowns as FIU took down ULM 28-17 in Sun Belt Conference action at Malone Stadium.

Carroll completed 16-of-34 passes for 213 yards, as FIU (7-4, 4-3 Sun Belt) won its seventh game, a new program record. Kedrick Rhodes paced the rushing game for the Panthers with 78 yards on 18 carries. T.Y. Hilton led the Panthers' receivers with 76 yards and a touchdown on four catches. Jonathan Cyprien led the FIU defensive unit with nine tackles and an interception which he returned for a touchdown.

ULM (3-8, 2-5) was led by Kolton Browning, as he threw for 246 yards and ran for 101 yards and a touchdown. The FIU defense gave Browning trouble as he completed just 26-of-59 passes and threw two interceptions while being sacked four times. Luther Ambrose made an impact on special teams with 128 kick returns yards and a touchdown. Jason Edwards led ULM's defense with 11 tackles.

The only score of the first quarter came when Carroll completed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Colt Anderson at the 5:19 mark to give FIU a 7-0 lead.

Carroll extended FIU's lead at the 9:22 mark of the second quarter with a 27- yard touchdown pass to Glenn Coleman.

ULM scored its first points on the next play as Ambrose took Jack Griffin's kickoff and returned it 98 yards for a touchdown, cutting the Panthers' lead to 14-7.

FIU answered quickly, as Carroll completed a 58-yard touchdown pass to Hilton less than a minute later to extend the lead to 21-7.

FIU's defense made its mark with just under three minutes left in the first half when Cyprien intercepted Browning and returned it nine yards for a touchdown that put the Panthers up 28-7.

Justin Manton added three for the Warhawks as he chipped in a 24-yard field goal as the second quarter ended to make it 28-10 at halftime.

The only points of the second half came at the 9:34 mark of the fourth quarter when Browning rushed one-yard for a touchdown to end scoring with FIU ahead 28-17.

Despite the double-digit loss, ULM's offense outperformed its opponent with 356 yards to FIU's 340.
