NCAA Game Summary - Cincinnati at Syracuse

Final Score: Cincinnati 30 - Syracuse 13

Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) - Isaiah Pead caught a touchdown pass and ran for a second score as the Cincinnati Bearcats defeated the Syracuse Orange, 30-13, in Big East Conference action at the Carrier Dome.

Pead caught a total of nine passes for 112 yards for the Bearcats (8-3, 4-2 Big East) as they snapped a two-game slide. Pead also ran the ball 17 times for another 80 yards on the ground. Quarterback Munchie Legaux converted 13- of-22 passes for 169 yards and two scores.

The Orange (5-6, 1-5) was paced by Ryan Nassib who hit on 19-of-38 passes for 203 yards and a score, but he was picked off once and sacked four times on the afternoon. Running back Antwon Bailey carried the ball 27 times for 135 yards in the setback.

Syracuse put the first points on the board early in the first quarter when Ross Krautman knocked through a 40-yard field goal. Krautman added a 32-yard conversion in the second quarter as well, but in between Cincinnati kicker Tony Miliano hit a 27-yard field goal of his own.

With just over two minutes to play in the first half the Bearcats assumed a 10-6 advantage when Legaux hooked up with Travis Kelce on a two-yard TD strike.

The first play from scrimmage in the second half saw Pead scamper 24 yards to the end zone to give the visitors a 17-6 edge. Miliano then booted field goals of 22 and 48 yards later in the frame to move the lead to 23-6.

With under one minute remaining in the third quarter, Nassib engineered a 10- play, 76-yard drive that culminated with a 13-yard TD pass to Nick Provo.

Trailing by 10 in the fourth quarter, Syracuse fell prey to a 69-yard TD pass from Legaux to Pead and that put the game out of reach.

Cincinnati, which made eight tackles behind the line of scrimmage, allowed 373 yards of total offense to a Syracuse squad that now needs to win at Pittsburgh next week in order to become bowl eligible.
