Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Munchie Legaux threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns, as the Cincinnati Bearcats downed the Connecticut Huskies 35-27 in the regular-season finale for both programs at Nippert Stadium.

The win gave the Bearcats a share of the Big East championship along with West Virginia and Louisville. The team that places the highest when the final BCS ratings are released Sunday night will receive the conference's automatic slot in a BCS bowl.

Legaux was 15-of-35 throwing the ball for the Bearcats (9-3, 5-2 Big East). Anthony McLung caught eight balls for 142 yards and two scores. Isaiah Pead ran for 68 yards on 23 carries,

Johnny McEntee was 20-of-40 through the air for the Huskies (5-7, 3-4), who would have become bowl eligible with the win, Isiah Moore caught six passes for 70 yards, while Lyle McCombs picked up 42 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Cincinnati took control of the game with a pair of defensive touchdowns.

The Bearcats took a 7-0 lead four-and-a-half minutes into the first quarter when McEntee was stripped of the ball in the end zone by the Bearcats' Walter Stewart, who grabbed the ball out of McEntee's throwing hand to score the touchdown.

It became a 14-0 game with just over a minute remaining in the quarter when Drew Frey intercepted a pass and took it 15 yards to the end zone.

The Bearcats extended their lead to 21-0 when Legaux hit Alex Chisum on a 22- yard throw with just under two minutes gone in the second quarter.

The Huskies picked up their first points of the day when David Teggart booted a 35-yard field goal with seven-and-a-half minutes remaining until halftime.

Legaux found McClung on a 13-yard connection with just under two minutes remaining to extend the Cincinnati lead to 28-3 before Teggart added a 46-yard field goal for the Huskies as time expired.

Teggart's 53-yard field goal made it a 28-9 game with six minutes gone in the third quarter.He added a 43-yard boot, his fourth field goal of the day, with a minute-and-a-half left in the period.

The Bearcats extended their lead when Legaux and McClung connected again, this time on a 31-yard connection, to make it a 35-12 game with 30 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

McEntee hit Mark Hinkley with a three-yard scoring pass with 10 minutes left in the game and then connected with Corey Manning on a two-point conversion pass to cut the Cincinnati lead to 35-20.

Following an interception, McEntee struck again for the Huskies, finding Ryan Griffin on a 25-yard throw with 5:46 left.

Cincinnati prevailed despite compiling just 319 yards in total offense. It was the first game for the Bearcats at Nippert Stadium since September 22. They played two home games at Paul Brown Stadium in between Nippert Stadium appearances.
