Randolph, Belcher, McGee earn national player of the week honors

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Holy Cross quarterback Dominic Randolph, Maine defensive end Jovan Belcher and James Madison kick returner Scottie McGee have been named The Sports Network's FCS national players of the week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Dominic Randolph, Holy Cross, Senior, Quarterback, 6-3, 223, Amelia, OH.

Randolph led Holy Cross to a 41-34 victory over Brown, completing 41-of-54 passes for a season-high 430 yards and four touchdowns. The Payton Award candidate threw three touchdown passes in the first half and added a fourth with 3:13 remaining to clinch the victory. He tied his own school record, set last week at Yale, with 41 completions. Randolph also rushed for 11 yards to finish with 441 yards of total offense.

The passing and total offense totals were both the fourth-highest single-game efforts in Holy Cross history. Randolph become the first player in Holy Cross history to have three career games with at least 400 yards passing, and his 12 career 300-yard efforts are one off the Patriot League record. Randolph has completed 100-of-130 passes in three wins over Brown for 14 touchdowns and no interceptions.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jovan Belcher, Maine, 6-2, 228, Senior, Defensive End, West Babylon, N.Y.

Belcher helped Maine to a 27-10 victory over No. 24 ranked Delaware with seven tackles, two sacks for 15 yards of losses and two forced fumbles in the fourth quarter to clinch the win. Belcher's first forced fumble came with the game tied at 10-all and set up quarterback Michael Brusko's go-ahead five-yard TD run two plays later. Belcher's second forced fumble came when he sacked Blue Hen quarterback Rob Schoenhoft in a 20-10 game. It was recovered by Jordan Stevens, who scooped up the ball and returned it 35 yards for the Black Bears' final touchdown.

The Buchanan Award candidate is among the CAA leaders in four categories, including: tackles (fifth, 8.7 per game), sacks (tied for third, 4.0, tackles for loss (fourth, 8.0) and tackles by a defensive lineman (first, 52). Belcher is also among the national leaders in sacks (tied for 32nd), tackles (tied for 55th) and tackles for loss (tied for 34th).

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Scotty McGee, James Madison, 5-9, 180, Junior, Cornerback/Kick Returner, Virginia Beach, VA.

McGee sparked No. 1 ranked James Madison to another victory in a key CAA contest, returning a punt 69 yards with one second remaining for the touchdown that lifted the Dukes to a 38-31 victory on the road over No. 5 ranked Richmond. It was his fifth return for a touchdown during his college career, breaking a James Madison record.

It is the second national special teams player of the week honor for McGee, who also earned the award when he took a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown to open the second half of JMU's 35-32 win over then-No. 1-ranked Appalachian State. McGee had 100 return yards during the contest.
