Western Illinois offensive coordinator resigns

Macomb, IL (Sports Network) - Western Illinois is seeking an offensive coordinator following the resignation of Doug Ruse on Tuesday.

He held the position over the the last two years, including the Leathernecks' 2010 FCS playoff season.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years at Western, and am very grateful for having the opportunity to coach these players and to work with this coaching staff," Ruse said. "Coach (Mark) Hendrickson is the finest man I've ever had the opportunity to work for in my 24 years as a college coach, which made the decision to leave a very difficult one."

Brian Ward was named Western Illinois' new defensive coordinator on Tuesday. He Drake's defensive coordinator last season.
