Up until now, Pierre Thomas couldn't recall playing for a football team at any level which was 10-0, and averaging 36.9 points per game, or had 18 different players score a touchdown.
Therefore, the running back declares that the accomplishments of the New Orleans Saints this season have been outstanding. Although the teams they have played have a combined record of 37-63.
Thomas said, "It does not matter," who leads the Saints with 584 yards as well as 5 TD's. "Each team is tough in this league. You can not take anyone for granted. If a few people want to say that the teams we played weren't that good, they have the freedom of speech and that is their preference, that is their judgment. However we know that every team is out to beat us and it is always going to be a competitive game."
Out of the teams that the Saints have beaten, those with the best records at this point are Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, who are both 6-4. Six of the Saints' victories have come against teams with 4 wins or less, and 2 one win teams as well.
Their remaining opponents include a pair of 7-3 teams, Dallas and New England. Starting with the Patriots this Monday night. New Orleans still has to play road games vs. Atlanta (5-5), Carolina (4-6) and Washington (3-7), and one final home game vs. Tampa Bay (1-9), who the Saints demolished 38-7 last Sunday. Reggie Bush, sat out Sunday's game with a swollen left knee but expects to return this week.
The Saints have had some close games. Only 2 of their wins weren't by double digits, the closest coming against St. Louis (1-9), 28-23. Their other single digit win was a 35-27 victory over Atlanta.
New Orleans has dominated their division. They have outscored them 188-78 in the 2nd half, and 105-24 in the 4th quarter.
To lead the NFL in offense two of the last three seasons, the Saints appear in good position to be among the top scoring NFL teams.
As Quarterback Drew Brees has been successful this season. Last weekend, his TD pass to tight end David Thomas made him the 12th player to record a touchdown this season.
"One of the best things that a quarterback can do is read and recognize the defenses and their weaknesses." Sean Payton, the head coach said. "We have had to install a few players due to injury, even a few of those boys have kept up. A number of receivers have gotten their hands on the ball."
