Investigation the role of a cop in the Roethlisberger case

The city of Coraopolis, PA is investigating the role of a cop in the Roethlisberger case...

One of Ben Roethlisberger's bodyguards that was with him at the bar in Milledgeville, Ga., on the night that a 20 year old student accused Roethlisberger for sexual assault, is in danger of losing his job. The Coraopolis, Pa., police officer is being questioned, a source from the local government of Coraopolis told ESPN on Sunday.

The majority vote of the Coraopolis City Council will be required for dismissing Anthony Barravecchio, and as per the source, if the vote took place today, it would be eight to zero to dismiss him from his position. The source added that the documents from the Georgia Bureau of Inquiry are going to be reviewed by the council, and the outcome of the vote will occur within a few weeks.

"That's complete opposition of information that I have,", said Michael Santicola, Barravecchio's lawyer, to ESPN on Sunday. Santicola is sure that Barravecchio did nothing wrong, and that he doesn't expect his client to be dismissed.

Santicola added that Barravecchio is a union member and even in the case that he is terminated, he will file a grievance and win, as there are "no grounds for the dismissal."

John Haberland, Mayor of Coraopolis, who has just one vote on council in the event of a tie, told ESPN that he expects the matter to be resolved in 3-4 weeks perhaps as soon as next week.

Haberland said that the borough canvasser is expected to present the findings of the GBI investigation this week and then the council will review this and hold a vote.

Robert Barone the Council president did not agree to that this would be an eight to zero vote to dismiss Barravecchio, if a vote were to take place today, he even said that has not polled the fellow council members.

"We are going to perform this the right way. We have to read the whole investigation and put this together as adults," he told ESPN.

Barravecchio said that he is an assistant and friend of Roethlisberger's, not his employee and is assigned to authorities in the Drug Enforcement Administration work force at the Pittsburgh International Airport.

As per the GBI investigation report, many women said that they saw Barravecchio keep the accuser in the back room of the bar where she declared that Roethlisberger assaulted her.

Santicola said, "Information is suspect due to many complications, including that the descriptions of the client do not match." He said that the accusations against Barravecchio are "inconsistent and unsubstantiated". "Even the action against Barravecchio, will be a knee dork reaction to sensationalism of the case" as per Santicola.

One other bodyguard was with the Steelers' quarterback that night, a Police Officer of the state of Pennsylvania, Edward Joyner, already has been told by state police to stop working for Roethlisberger.

Though he wasn't charged with any crime, Roethlisberger was suspended 6 games by the NFL for violating the personal conduct policy.
