Donovan McNabb, Quarterback of the Redskins, is rather relaxed when facing a microphone and after a minicamp practice on Saturday he talked about many issues.
The main topic was his reaction about former teammate DeSean Jackson's comments that were published in an article in the Sporting News, "I don't feel we lost anything." when asked about his former quarterback.
Shown the cover of the magazine at the press conference by a news reporter, McNabb handled the quotation in stride.
"It is so easy for people catch to talk about you when you are not there but when you are there, everyone likes you, so I suppose, people will go deeper into it than I will," McNabb said. "I am a Redskin and no longer an Eagle. I had eleven great years and I am moving on with my life. But, they may say things while I am gone, more power to 'em but it is not making you look like a better man."
On the improvement from the 1st minicamp to the 2nd: "I think everybody is kind of getting their feet under them and getting an idea of what we like to do. As a veteran, you kind of hate these camps but clearly when you are in a new environment, learning a new offense, a new idea, it is going to be a big advantage for us and we are absolutely taking advantage of the opportunity of being out here and running these plays."
On the double trouble of tight ends Fred Davis and Chris Cooley: "I believe it is significant in any offense that you have a tight end or 2 that can get downfield and put pressure on the safeties and linebackers. I think that the players that we have, we feel like it could be an advantage against the safeties and absolutely against the linebackers with those players. With our youthful receivers and taking in a player like Joey [Galloway], again, I think it takes the pressure off of them, and then the running back plays a big part in the passing game. It is going to be exciting once we all get the knowledge and try to be on the same page, but it is exciting at this point."
"Absolutely, the thing with me is I do not consider this a test run. I am here as a Redskin and I'd prefer to be here for awhile and I look forward to that. The main thing is getting settled and comfortable, learning this offense so that we can have a lot of success for the upcoming years."
