Super Bowl Divisional Playoffs 2012

Odds & News | MK ( Fri 13th, January 2012 )

Super Bowl Divisional Playoffs 2012 are getting exciting with every day that passes and we prepare for the games

Scheduled this coming Saturday. Four matchups ready to be played with dedication and the contenders ready to leave blood sweat and guts in the field, maybe that sounds kind of gory but my point is that these teams will be giving the best of their efforts to win and get their right to the final game.

Three of these expected games are rematches of the regular season. We were witnesses of many great games during the regulars, victories and upsets that may repeat or not. I'll try not to measure the results of these games based on the past games. Even if three of these games are repetitions', the results may vary according to the lessons learned from the original matchups, but also weather and advantageous terrain will be a factor at the end. Which team will make it through to the Super Bowl final? The paths to this goal are not still clear yet, but let's take a look and see what we can find out.

Allowing only four of sixteen opponents score above 20 points during the regular season, the 49ers held one of the most effective defenses, allowing 10.9 points by game. The guys from San Francisco don't have a strong offensive, but their defense is a barbed wire wall. Alex Smith may have the chance to make the deed; turnovers and pass interference are the key movements for San Francisco to win. The New Orleans Saints have a good offensive, but will have a hard time trying to pass this defense; especially if their QB Drew Brees keep struggling with the natural grass, awkwardly affecting his touchdown throws. The 49ers may be giving us some hidden surprises on these playoffs, maybe like in other occasions; the best team defense usually wins.

Beating the New England Patriots will be a challenge of higher proportions for the Denver Broncos; the game during week 15 was a hard one, Denver lost at home and the Tebow magic was a bit absent during the game making 93 yards while Brady scoring 320 yards and rallying his teammates to a deserved victory. The Broncos showed a different game against the Pittsburg Steelers and maybe they have a new strategy that could beat the Patriots; this is quite possible after the first time they face each other, however, I think a more organized New England and a colder and calculating Brady will make it even harder for the guys of Denver a second time, especially with the advantage of playing at home. I'll give it to the Pats.

The Baltimore Ravens met the Houston Texas the past October and won 29-14; they now face each other once more for a decisive battle; so, what are their chances? The Ravens are strong in all the positions, especially their defense. Sadly, no team could ever be a perfect one; they only have a real issue on their effectiveness as a balanced team, their QB. Joe Flacco has been intercepted at least once during the last four games; and this may be the flaw to exploit for Houston to have a good chance. The Texans' defense is quite strong too, and even if their runs aren't the best, they manage to do with the ball anything they wanted during the whole season. Maybe they have a good chance to bright with TJ Yates as QB. For me the result is Houston over Baltimore. This is the third rematch; the New York Giants play against the Green Bay Packers about a month ago during the regular season. The Giants won against the defending champions in that occasion and is quite possible that the results will repeat too. Eli Manning has won in the Lambeau before during the 2008 SB XLII, so the field is not going to be a treat for the Giants at all, but either for the guys of Green Bay. The Packers count with the help of Aaron Rodgers, who remain dangerous and can make a huge difference in the results. This may be the hottest game of the weekend. On this duel, I call it a victory for the Giants over the Packers.
